Adele Wilson, MA, RTC

A little bit about me:

I trained in Relational Somatic Therapy, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy, among other psychotherapeutic modalities, and I am currently completing a master’s degree in clinical social work at the University of Calgary, specializing in trauma recovery. I am designated by the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT) to work with clients as a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC).

In addition, I am an instructor in the Numinus Wellness, Inc. psychedelic-assisted therapy training program, teaching classes on topics such as psychedelic integration and psychedelic-assisted therapy for problematic substance use. My teaching draws on a decade of experience learning from plant medicines and, in particular, from the traditional vegetalismo practices of the Shipibo-Konibo people from the Amazon basin of Peru.

Before my interests in psychology and psychedelic medicine set me on a new course, I worked as an educator in various contexts, including teaching undergraduate literature and writing at the University of Toronto.

My approach:

Respecting my clients' intuition and agency is paramount to my counselling ethics and approach. My orientation is person-centered, trauma- and violence-informed, and grounded in principles of social justice, accessibility, and harm reduction.

In addition, I am inspired by Buddhist and nondual meditation practices, restorative justice approaches to conflict resolution, Indigenous healing practices, yoga practice, and creative and therapeutic writing.

My personal history with depression, trauma, and chronic allergic reactions, which catalyzed my own therapeutic journey, has deepened my humility and my respect for each individual’s unique path through this complicated world.
